Maruti's first electric SUV finally arrives
The e-Vitara marks Maruti’s first fully electric SUV, aimed squarely at rivals that have had the segment to themselves for a while. Expect real-world range that’s usable rather than just headline-grabbing, and pricing built to feel like a Maruti rather than an import.
Tata brings the Sierra back, this time electric
Tata is reviving the Sierra name as a fully electric SUV, betting on nostalgia to get people into showrooms while trying to make sure what’s underneath is a genuinely modern EV rather than a badge exercise.
Honda's hybrid finally lands at home
A locally-built hybrid version of the Elevate is on its way, using Honda’s strong-hybrid system to chase class-leading efficiency without shrinking the cabin. Maruti and Toyota have had this space largely to themselves, so this is a real shake-up.
The premium end gets busier too
An updated Audi Q3, MG’s Hector Hawk EV, and a new-generation Skoda Superb are all expected before the year closes out, giving buyers with bigger budgets more to cross-shop than they had at the start of 2026.
What's actually worth waiting for
If you’re set on an EV, holding out a few more weeks for the e-Vitara or Sierra EV is probably worth it. If you just want a solid, efficient hybrid SUV today, the Elevate hybrid is close enough that the wait may not be necessary.
